Marewa Surgery is a full-service skin cancer clinic. We see patients from the first appointment for a skin check, and do our own imaging, diagnoses, treatment and follow-up all on site.
Our clinic undergoes regular, comprehensive audits and we are an accredited facility for 'Office/Rooms Based Surgery and Procedures'.
Early detection of melanoma and other skin cancer is the most important aspect of its management.
The doctors and nurses at Marewa Surgery are trained in dermatoscopy (skin microscopy) and offer full body skin checks, spot assessments and mole mapping (total body photography).
We use dermatoscopy and the latest skin imaging software to thoroughly check your skin to identify any suspicious appearing moles or other lesions.
Skin spots are photographed and magnified onto a large screen, and can be tracked over time, allowing very early signs of melanoma and other skin cancers to be identified. Images are securely stored for future comparison and monitoring.
We provide on-the-spot feedback during your consultation. If a skin cancer is found you will be able to discuss the next steps and treatment options during your appointment.
There are a number of effective non-surgical treatment options for sun damaged skin, precancerous lesions, or early skin cancers.
Depending on the specific lesion or area of concern, these may include preventative creams, cryotherapy, topical chemotherapy (e.g. efudix, imiquimod) and other creams.
The nurses run topical chemotherapy clinics and can also provide cryotherapy to appropriate lesions.
If surgery is required this is carried out at the clinic under local anaesthetic, making the procedure pain free and allowing you to return home comfortably afterwards.
All follow-up care (e.g. suture removal, dressings, pathology results discussion) is routinely provided.
Our trained nurses also provide skin biopsies for appropriate lesions and follow-up care.
Minor skin surgery
Skin biopsies, mole removal, skin cancer excisions.
Advanced skin surgery
More complex procedures such as skin grafts or flap reconstruction of nearly all body areas including the face, scalp and lower legs.
